They Say:

Begat in the febrile, incestuous world of Edinburgh’s emerging indie community in 1985, Jesse Garon & the Desperadoes were to achieve almost legendary status in the burgeoning Scottish music scene of the time.

Their first new release for more than 35 years arrives via their sole BBC radio session, recorded for the much-missed Janice Long and now let loose upon the world again as part of the acclaimed Precious Recordings of London series.
Released on ten-inch vinyl and featuring copious sleeve notes and a host of unseen images on the inner sleeve, the four-song salvo represents the group in their first flush of youth, debut single ‘Splashing Along’ just released.

Brilliantly capturing the spirit of the indie times, the session has Douglas Hart of the Jesus and Mary Chain at the controls. It features a version of fan favourite Laughing & Smiling (under a slightly extended title) alongside three other staples of the early Desperadoes’ set.

Plus the deployment of the name of a much-loved children’s TV presenter as the punchline of a rather laboured joke. For lovers of indie pop everywhere!
Songsheet: Laughing, Smiling And Falling Again, Leave You Behind, Up On The Big Wheel, Hank Williams Is Dead
